Vero Beach Marine Laboratory
Welcome to Florida Institute of Technology's Vero Beach Marine Laboratory donation page. This 4-acre oceanfront field laboratory was established in 1981 as a satellite campus for Florida Institute of Technology. Fitted with three well points, the system pumps seawater directly from the Atlantic Ocean into various marine aquaculture systems for production and scientific research. From algae, shrimp, clownfish to cobia, a wide range of organisms have been studied for farming purposes. Researchers from all over the world, private companies, and students have utilized the facility and published dozens of scientific articles. This natural laboratory also offers an excellent setting for environmental appreciation and understanding, research and hands-on learning.
Mission statement: The mission of the Vero Beach Marine Laboratory is to develop new strategies for responsible aquaculture and educate the community about marine conservation through research demonstrations and hands-on learning programs.
Your donation will go directly to fund various programs within the Vero Beach Marine Laboratory such as youth scholarships, outreach efforts, local marine conservation projects, and improving our facilities.
