Student Astronomical Society
The Mission of the Student Astronomical Society at Florida Tech is to further enhance our knowledge of the universe through various methods, to include observational astronomy, attending lectures and visiting other observatories, hosting star parties, and many other exciting events. All students are welcome and club membership is free.
The club is very excited to have access to a wealth of astronomical equipment to include Florida Tech's very own 32-inch Ortega Telescope, along with two Dobsonians, one 6-inch Newtonian, multiple Meade Telescopes ranging from four to eight inches, and even a Solar Telescope. Beginning in the Fall 2014 Semester, the club will be granted regular access to the Ortega Telescope--which happens to currently be the largest research telescope in the state of Florida. Meetings are every Monday @ 7pm during the school year – excluding holidays – in Room 140 of the Olin Physical Sciences Building. Come join us!
Our hope is to improve our telescope equipment to include solar scopes, solar filters, binoculars, and star charts. We also want to bring our knowledge and love of the universe to nearby elementary schools. To do this, we need your help. Please consider supporting us below with a tax deductible gift to the Student Astronomical Society. Please direct any questions you have to firstname.lastname@example.org.
