Deering-Irlandi Fellowship fund

Dr. Elizabeth Irlandi received many research grants during her time at FIT. Her research focused on the ecology of seagrasses and other benthic macrophytes, the application of the concepts of landscape ecology to aquatic ecosystems, linkages between terrestrial and aquatic environments, and the impacts of anthropogenic stresses on the ecological functioning of coastal zone habitats. Her work on mitigation and restoration of ecosystems was another of her passions.

To honor her years of teaching, the university decided to combine an existing fund that had not reached endowment level and create the Deering-Irlandi Fellowship fund. Now, her students, family, and friends can donate to the Deering-Irlandi Endowed Fellowship in her name. The fellowship will be available to graduate students.
